Our Town Gets Down! Party at the Plaza – 29 Palms

Easy Tiger recently provided the audio firepower and DJ’d the closing set for the Party at the Plaza. Our town knows how to party! A beer garden, a market, bands all day, costumed stilt walkers, ribbon cutting, and a silent disco to top off the evening.  This epic shindig marked the inauguration of Freedom Plaza, a mixed use development in downtown Twentynine Palms, California.

Our local radio station, Z107.7, sums up the development perfectly, “The new complex at Freedom Plaza includes the 11,000-square-foot Community Center, the 4,100-square-foot Joshua Tree National Park Cultural and Visitor Center, the 10,000-square-foot entry plaza, a large stage, and a three-block-long paseo. The Community Center includes a gymnasium and a professional-grade kitchen that will be used to teach culinary arts to students from local high schools and Copper Mountain College.” The all-day long bash began with a ribbon cutting ceremony, several rockin’ bands playing into the night and a silent disco DJ set by Easy Tiger’s Nic Neath to close out the festivities.

Notable attendees included the Mayor of Twentynine Palms, Karmolette O’ Gilvie, and Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent, David Smith, which are both featured in the video below. The Animal Cracker Conspiracy performed during several walking sessions in their Zebra and Giraffe costumes, which were fantastic. The closing band, Jungle Fire, absolutely slayed their set and proved to be the perfect segue into the silent disco set. The dance floor packed, already cutting a rug, and ready for more.

Peep the video below for a snapshot of the performances and interviews from the folks that made it happen:

The tiger had to come correct for this one so brought the whole shebang. To make sure we had ample coverage we deployed the Traction Hawk 8 and Solo system to fill the front of the space while the Hawk 28’s and Dubs were set up to provide that long throw we love about Traction. We teamed up with local audio guru Aaron Farinelli to run both systems in parallel using an Allen and Heath Q32 board. Hearing Jungle Fire on the whole set up was a thrilling delight, what an amazing set!

Regarding the silent disco, we checked out close to 300 headsets, folks of all ages were bouncing around to the house music sound.  The feedback was unanimous, the entire community was super amped to usher in this new era for 29!  Check out the video below, taken by Areo Rodriguez, to get a sense of the excitement:

Thank you to every one involved that helped make such a great event possible for our growing community! We were honored to have been a part of such an important event in this new chapter of Twentynine Palms history and we are looking forward to being a part of similar events in the future. Whether you are throwing a wedding reception, a party for an entire city, or just a backyard hoe-down, call the tiger and we will get you sorted. Make it Easy.
